If you have ever wanted to go somewhere and your car was not working properly, a great auto service shop, with dedicated technicians, is worth its weight in gold to you. Lash Auto Service has been servicing all types of cars and trucks for nearly twenty years in the New Haven Indiana area. In the shop Lash has two employees besides himself. Lash said, "Our ASE Certified Technicians have 70 years of combined experience and can service any vehicle, foreign or domestic."

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is a professional certification group that certifies professionals and shops in the automotive repair and service industry in the United States and parts of Canada. The organization aims to improve the quality of vehicle repair and service through the testing and certification of repair and service professionals.

Lash started working on cars when he was a kid at home. He said, "We had a number of cars at home and I had four sisters, parents, and a grandmother. And Dad said if we were going to have cars we were going to have to make them work ourselves. So that's where I got stared." Once Lash was in high school he attended the automotive program that they offered. After graduation Lash began his automotive career in area dealerships.

"I worked for Bob Jackson Ford here in New Haven, Lash said. "That is where I started out. I worked for Glenbrook Didge Northway. Then I worked for Poinsette. And Poinsette was the one I worked for last." At each of the dealerships Lash was given training from the dealerships and also through manufacturers such as NAPA and AC Delco. It was also in the dealerships that Lash received his ASE certification.

Lash continued, "When the owner of the last dealership; Poinsette, wanted to retire, I was given the option of going to Detroit to work for Chrysler or to go to one of the other local dealerships that it was being sold to. My wife, Marla, and I had already purchased our current building planning to do repair work on the side. It was on our anniversary that I told her we were going to just open up full time. So I guess you could say that that was her anniversary present, and we are still married."

It was in April of 1998 that Lash Auto Service was born. Since that time Lash Auto Service has thrived. The only set back was in 2010 when Lash Auto Service had a fire that burnt a lot of it down. But even that didn't stop Larry from repairing and maintaining automobiles. He said, "We had a temporary location down by Eagle Contracting. Made it through that year and built a whole new building and we are still plugging along."

Lash Auto Service understands that your car is an important asset to your life and your business. They are proud to provide "Quality Service with the Hometown Touch." They are not only capable of servicing your personal vehicle, but they can provide quality automotive repair service for your light duty trucks and company fleet vehicles as well. Lash Auto doesn't cut corners because they stand behind the quality auto repair work they do. If there are options to the level of repair parts they can offer to fix your car, they will go over those options, and what each level may mean to you and your car or truck.

Lash's favorite part of his job is talking with the people and solving their problems concerning their broken automobiles. He claims that with today's sophisticated cars, the good auto service technician must be a combination of diagnostic wizard, mechanical engineer, electrician, continuing student and great mechanic. It's not glamours work, but it is exciting work. Part detective, he must discover the problems and then, take the puzzle apart and put it back together again to work perfectly.

Lash hopes that in the next five to ten years his business will grow enough that he can hire another full time technician. He said, "I hope to bring it to a point that I have another technician so that I have two full technicians in there besides myself and I won't have to be here quite as much."

Lash Auto Service has been a Chamber Member since 1999. Lash also was a member of the Board of Directors from 2011 to 2014. "It was a good experience to be involved with the Chamber on the Board because it kept me up to date on what was going on in the community and other businesses.

So the next time you need service on your vehicle, consider Lash Auto Service, and receive quality service with a hometown touch.
